APEX
APEX coverage serves as an enhancement to the LAPP base pension, matches pensions provided to other public sector senior management and professional employees, and provides pensions that are reflective of total earnings.
This plan provides an important component for your HR strategy to attract and retain senior management and professional employees.
  • Supplementary Defined Benefit Pension Plan designed to improve upon the pension benefits provided by the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP)
  •  A supplementary life-time pension providing a benefit of 0.6% times best five (5) consecutive years’ earnings up to the YMPE averaged for the period;
  • 2/3 pension to surviving pension partner on member’s death

APEX was established on January 1, 2003 and is registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and provincially, under the provisions of the Alberta Employment Pension Plans Act (EPPA).
