Crime Protection insurance is a necessary component for any municipality because crime-related losses are not typically covered by most property insurance policies. The package compensates municipalities when a specific criminal action targeting their financial resources is committed against them. The coverage is broken down under two headings:

1. Employee Dishonesty – when one or more persons holding positions of trust use their inside knowledge to defraud their employer by directing the municipality’s money or property into their possession.
2. Money and Securities – when outside parties seek to benefit monetarily by obtaining amounts of legal tender or documents of negotiable value without a municipality’s agreement or knowledge.
