Alberta Municipal Affairs is hosting workshops on Intermunicipal Collaboration Frameworks (ICFs) and Intermunicipal Development Plans (IDPs) in in various locations throughout Alberta over the next few months. The following dates and locations have been confirmed, with venues and RSVP information to be updated regularly:
February 20, 2018 – Grande Prairie
March 8 – MD of Foothills
March 14 – Lethbridge County
March 16 – County of Newell
April 11 – Athabasca County
April 13 – Red Deer County
April 26 – Town of St. Paul
The workshops are designed to provide the opportunity for representatives of bordering municipalities to work directly together and jointly assess what work and strategic approach is needed to complete their ICFs and IDPs by April 1, 2020.
Mayors/Reeves and CAOs from each municipality are invited to attend, along with the Mayors and CAOs of bordering municipality/municipalities, to ensure you attend the same workshop and start this important work together.

Objectives of the workshop
At the end of the workshop the municipalities will understand the requirements of an ICF, have a draft plan on how to approach their ICFs and know where to get resources to assist in completing their ICFs and IDPs.
Workshop Design and Approach
The design of the workshop is to have both rural and urban neighbours work together in the workshop to jointly assess what work and strategic approach is needed to complete the required ICFs within 2 years.
· The Rural and Urban municipal neighbours will be put into breakout groups and use the ICF guide to help assess what work and strategic approach they want to take to complete the ICFs.
