Engineering Coordinator

Job Description : 

Reporting to the Director, Operational Services, you will be responsible for providing engineering support to general municipal engineering, infrastructure operations and maintenance, and land development matters, as well as providing support to the director for the Planning and Operational Services area.  

 Key Responsibilities include:

  • Implement, maintain, and lead the Town’s Asset Management Program
  • Review and provide comments on development permit applications regarding infrastructure, lot grading and drainage issues
  • Review and process excavation and alignment requests from all parties relating to service connections or right of way access
  • Work with the Director to administer all phases of development agreements including design preparation, drawing review, construction, inspection, and issuance of acceptance certificates
  • Provide input into the design of capital works and other projects and prepare applications for agency/governmental approvals as required
  • Liaise with developers, builders and the public regarding municipal infrastructure, construction and maintenance and planning for future projects
  • Prepare RFPs and tenders for operational projects and services and reviews bids, tenders and contract documentation, and assist with selection recommendations
  • Coordinate engineering consultants, vendors, and contractors to complete capital projects
  • Maintain the Town’s design guidelines and standards, provide interpretation and recommendations for change as required and assist with GIS and map updates
  • Maintain the Town’s capital planning documents, engineering plans and other documents
  • Research, gather data and prepare reports on topics related to planning, design, and operation of municipal infrastructure
  • Review and provide assessment of technical studies in related areas as required


  • Degree or Diploma related to Civil Engineering holding either P.Eng or CET designation or eligible to attain the designation
  • A minimum of 2 years directly related experience preferred or 5 years working experience in the civil engineering field
  • Good understanding and experience with municipal infrastructure design and construction practice, storm water management, grading and contract administration
  • Strong communication skillset with demonstrated expertise in project management
  • Experience working in the municipal sector and in asset management considered an asset
