The Town of Stony Plain has a permanent full-time position available for a GIS Coordinator. Under the supervisions of Technology Services Manager, the GIS Coordinator is responsible for the operation, efficient use, promotion and maintenance of GIS systems, data and hardware within the Technology Services section as it relates to internal, external and web-based technology. This position will respond to requests for GIS services, develop maps and enter/update data in a timely and efficient manner; collecting data and integrating data provided by outside sources and liaise with Department contacts on the requirements associated with GIS service requests.
The ideal candidate for this position holds a high school diploma, and a GIS Technician Certificate (or equivalent), with designation or equivalence as a GIS Professional (GISP) preferred. This individual will have excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills, with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a GIS related field. Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Applications and demonstrated knowledge of GIS principles and use of ESRI’s GIS software and techniques, including ArcGIS Desktop, Enterprise, and ArcGIS online is required. Knowledge of municipal government is considered an asset. Knowledge of drafting methods and land survey principles, combined with the ability to use database and spreadsheet programs will aid in ensuring success in this role. The incumbent will be able to work well independently and in a team environment.
The current work week is based on 35 hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The Town offers an excellent benefits package including the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
