Reporting to the Director, Legislative Services, the Legislative Officer – Risk Management is responsible for the administration of the City’s insurance and risk management portfolio, coordination and administration of the City’s letters of credit and lease list. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, establishing and maintaining best practices for risk management and being the primary point of contact for insurance matters, as well as, reviewing documentation, including contracts, leases and agreements. This position is also responsible for providing legislative support to Council, City of Fort Saskatchewan staff, and to the public. The successful candidate will gain an understanding of the overall functions of the Legislative Services Department to allow for cross training opportunities.
This position requires post-secondary education in Insurance & Risk management or a related field. Education in Municipal Government and Law would be an asset. The successful candidate will have, or be willing to obtain, a National Advance Certificate in Local Government Authorities Administration, and a Commissioner for Oaths certification. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related area and working knowledge of the legal structure of municipalities and agencies is required. Experience in managing quasi-judicial body (SDAB) would be a definite asset. The candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel and have strong organization, presentation, verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will pride themselves on their professionalism, excellent customer service skills and work well within a team environment.
The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a competitive compensation package with a salary range of $69,790.50 to $82,114.50 per annum.
