The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a confident, professional, results orientated individual to join our Community and Protective Services Team. Reporting to the General Manager of Community and Protective Services, the Senior Accountant will contribute to leading accurate and timely accounting and reporting activities within the Community and Protective Services Division. This includes managing all aspects of the fees and charges, maintaining the capital and operating reserve targets, and developing cost recovery models for City programs. The Senior Accountant will manage and report on the operational budget variance for the Community and Protective Services Departments, while providing budget support for major operational areas. The Senior Accountant, Community and Protective Services will also take the lead role in analyzing and reporting the impacts of third party contracts, service levels, fine revenues and provide strategic and tactical leadership with the departments’ business plan developments and new initiatives.
The successful candidate will have an Accounting related Degree with a professional accounting designation; a minimum of five years of accounting experience is required. A combination of education and experience may be considered. This position requires advanced interpersonal, time management, communication and organizational skills. Advanced skills working with financial systems, including advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word is required. The ability to communicate constructively in a positive, confident and respectful manner (written and oral) to internal and external stakeholders is essential.
