Join the campaign to modernize Alberta’s recycling regulatory framework

At the recent Municipal Leaders’ Caucus, municipalities endorsed the two Requests for Decision (RFD) put forward by the City of Calgary and Strathcona County. Both RFDs called on the provincial government to implement changes immediately to Alberta’s recycling regulations based on the 2013 recommendations and to work with municipalities to implement an extended producer responsibility program for printed paper and packaging.

Both RFDs complement AUMA’s current letter-writing campaign asking the province to modernize Alberta’ recycling regulatory framework. If you haven’t already submitted a letter of support, you can download the template letter to send to your MLA as well as access background information on Alberta’s recycling system, all available on the AUMA Waste Management Toolkit page.

Our goal is to highlight that municipalities want actions now, and AUMA is ready to engage with the Ministry of Environment and Parks to design a sustainable recycling system.
