Fire Chief

Join our team as a full-time, permanent Fire Chief and lead with expertise, dedication, and a commitment to public safety. We are seeking a dynamic individual who possesses a passion for emergency response, and community safety and preparedness. Reporting to the General Manager of Community and Protective Services, the position will be responsible for the operation and supervision of department resource planning, fire prevention and community safety initiatives, and all emergency response services for the Fire Department

• Possesses sound judgment and extensive working knowledge and experience in the area of fire prevention, fire suppression, investigations, and related emergency services; 

• Has demonstrated experience in budget preparation and management;

• Possesses highly developed organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;

• Demonstrates high ethical standards and commitment to dedication and service;

• Exhibits the ability to foster positive relationships with various stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization;

• Has proven experience in recruiting, coaching, and training fire personnel.

Education:

• Post-secondary education in business administration, emergency management, or fire related education

• Safety Codes Officer Fire Inspector Level I – Investigator Level 1

• NFPA 1001 Level 2

• NFPA 1021 Level 2

• NFPA 1041 Part 2, Level 1

• ICS 100-400

• Current First Aid and CPR

• Class 3 Liscence

Experience:

• 10 years of progressive supervisory experience in an emergency service field

• Municipal experience considered an asset.

A combination of experience and education may be considered.

This position may be required to attend training sessions, and emergency responses outside of the regular work day. This position has a required rotational on-call schedule.
