We know that not-for-profit organizations are a vital part of building strong communities. For over 100 years, we’ve been supporting communities through our work with municipalities and community-related organizations.
We are proud to increase the support provided to our not-for-profit members by committing to deepening partnerships with our existing members, further tailor products such as employee benefits, and develop a resource hub for not-for-profit organizations.
With the success of the Board Development Program interactive live webinar series, we are now re-running the series! The Board Development Program interactive live webinar series will once again be in partnership with the Government of Alberta. The webinar series is free for board members of Alberta’s not-for-profit organizations. See the sessions and register below.

Grande Spirit Foundation
The Grande Spirit Foundation represents 12 municipalities and has over 100 dedicated staff providing reasonably priced housing, quality care, and dignity to seniors and families. The Foundation was formed in 1960, although its roots go back to just after the Second World War. The municipal leaders of the region decided that a home for the Senior Citizens of the area was needed and in 1949 the first home was built.
Green Acres Foundation
Green Acres Foundation is a non-profit housing management body established by Ministerial Order by the Province of Alberta. They provide affordable supportive housing to seniors of the City of Lethbridge, Lethbridge County, and the Towns of Picture Butte, Coaldale, Coalhurst, and Nobleford, as well as the Village of Barons. They have been providing affordable homes for independent senior citizens in Southern Alberta since 1960 and today are one of the largest providers of seniors housing in the province.
Marigold Library System
Marigold is a not-for-profit membership collective of municipalities to provide affordable and progressive public library services and support. Marigold serves 343,000 residents in 43 rural and urban municipalities that surround Calgary and two First Nations Reserves. Our services are largely focused on the 36 libraries in our region, although Marigold also delivers services directly to residents in a variety of ways: Library Lending Lockers, 24/7 digital resources and services on our websites, volunteer book deposits and mail services.
St Paul Abilities Network (S.P.A.N)
The St. Paul Abilities Network (Society) was founded in 1964 by parents and volunteers wanting education for their children with special needs. S.P.A.N. began as a charity, and after years of lobbying and fundraising they opened the regions’ first school to support children with special needs in Northern Alberta.
Children came from across the north to be educated; as the school began to attract students, the demand for a place for children to live became apparent. In 1971 our first home was opened.
